This is a Gary Green jasper pendant. It has an 18" brown leather cord fitted with a sterling silver magnetic clasp.
This stone is petrified bogwood or swamp bog where the wood canes and cat tails and creatures living in the bog are petrified. It is a snapshot in time of the algae,
fallen trees, vegetation and various swamp critters that were present
when the bog was covered by fallen ash of a volcanic event.
The green coloring is from the stones chromium content. This stone
is also known as Larsonite (named after Gary Larson who discovered
its location in 1970’s) and Caldera Jasper. This stone comes from the
Oregon side of the boarder of the McDermitt area.
