The ring display boxes below are made from Canary wood. This hardwood grows in South American from Panama to Southern Brazil. It is a non-endangered species. Known for its intense yellow/red colors when freshly cut, the wood naturally desaturates as it ages to lighter browns while still maintaining its contrasts. The boxes measure 3" x 3" with a height of 2". The outer surfaces of the boxes have been coated with polyurethane. The inside of the boxes have been lined with moire fabric.
Each box lid has been fitted with a hand cut and polished knob. The idea of the shape of these knobs came from a previous commission I had in making custom semi precious stone replacements for the three way toggle switches found on many electric guitars.
The semi precious stone from Mexico that I used for these boxes is called Hickoryite. It has been said that Hickoryite stimulates imaginative thinking and a desire for adventure. $ 300.00 each. Email to purchase.
