Many of the rocks and minerals I use were collected while backpacking and traveling over many years. I also acquired a large collection from a retired geologist who had spent a lifetime traveling the world looking for minerals. "Rock-hounds" share a common interest in their passion for natural environments and an obsession for discovery. Their avocation provides them with a window of our beautiful world.
I start a pendant by cutting a large stone into narrow slabs then examine them for pattern and color. Then the slabs are cut so as to approximate the final shape before going through numerous stages of grinding, sanding and polishing. The end result is a singular, artistic, wearable piece of sculpture.
